1. B

Choice B has the proper scope to reflect the main idea. Choice A makes reference to a minor point in the first paragraph, Choice C distorts an idea from the passage and magnifies a detail, and Choice D connects two ideas presented separately.

2. B

The citation after the passage and the general tone of the writing suggests that "magazine art critic" is most fitting. Were the writer a painter, we would expect more information about the tone. Finally, we might expect that a museum curator would focus more on Marin's artwork and its effect on the public rather than on the relation between his art and his life.

3. C

Go back to the passage to find the reference. We find it in conjunction with the writer's implication that the art world has a short attention span. This is most consistent with Choice C. Choices A and B mistakenly connect Op Art to the work of Marin, a connection the author does not make in the passage. Choice D assumes a comparison also not drawn from the passage.

4. A

This type of question requires that you find an exception. Choice A--political beliefs--is the only aspect among the answer choices not discussed in the passage. If you misinterpreted Marin's "Nazi" quote as being political instead of philosophical, you might have had a hard time answering this question.
